This year we will have seven different zones for you to explore – Machinery, Mr Mawkin’s Farm, Emergency Services, Countryside, Horticultural, Arena and Heavy Horses. Below is a little more detail what you can expect from each, plus a few other highlights to get you excited!
Mr Mawkin’s Farm
Come and meet your favourite farm animals at Mr Mawkins farm from sleeping pigs to spring lambs, plus a host of rare breeds including Pygmy goats and Shorthorn calfs. You can also try your hand at bottle feeding lambs and watching baby chicks hatch from eggs.
Emergency services zone
Hands-on learning arena
With over 30 exhibitors our ‘hands-on’ learning zone, located in the Showground Arena, is packed with activities where you can learn more about the land, the countryside and your local community, including tractor simulator rides, make your own crest heads and even tasting wonky veg thanks to Morrison’s.
Our countryside area this year includes the ever popular sheep dog, dog agility, ferret and birds of prey displays, plus a host of new ‘hands-on’ events including laser clay shooting, fly fishing, wood carving and more.
Meet and watch our impressive heavy horse display, learn how to braid horses and even have-a-go at lead reigning.
Get up, close and personal to some of the country’s smallest animals from the traditional at Mr Mawkin’s Farm to the more exotic thanks to Zoo4You, including a skunk, parrot, snakes, geckos and tarantulas!
The greatest show!
Watch the world famous and impressive New Zealand sheep show. Not to be missed.
A Spring Fling favourite. It’s all aboard the showground tractor as we take you on an interactive ride around the showground and pass 300 ewes and lambs.
Roll your sleeves up and learn how to make cheese – then head over to Dann’s ice cream for ice-cream making!
Learn about food, farming and the countryside with a host of interactive games and activities right across the showground.
Enjoy a host of themed crafts in the ‘hands-on’ arena to keep every age happy throughout the day including making your own up-cycled notebooks, finger painting, puppet making, plus come and help us build a lego farm!
Explore the world of science including micro worlds and micro beasts with the John Innes Centre, learn how the Sun gives us all life on Earth, how rainbows are created and if you’re really brave try shooting lightning between your fingertips thanks to Mad Science Norfolk!
For the real little ones there’s even a soft play area, plus tea and coffee for the bigger ones!
Plus more, including….
- Sausage making
- Pampered cows thanks to Norton’s Dairy
- And more!
*Feedback from previous years has been to offer more activities and experiences rather than a free hog roast lunch. So for 2019 we’re making it bigger and better, but this does mean the hog roast lunch will not be included in the price this year. However, as per previous years there will be no further cost after entry and there will be plenty of food options available or alternatively please bring your own food/picnic.
